Objective of iibh
 

iibh has been established intended to promote the development of the domestic field of buildings and housings by means of effective international harmonization of technologies, systems, codes and standards, and communication of information with other countries and organizations in the field of buildings and housings.


Membership of iibh
 

iibh is administrated by the funds which are the due for membership, within the rule of iibh and within approved annual budget. Membership consists of members listed below who have interested in the objective of iibh.

The Structure of iibh Committees

iibh consists of the following groups of committees ;

1. International Building Standards Research Committees

International Building
Standards Research Committee intends to promote;

to research and investigate the technologies, standards and systems in overseas countries in the field of building and housing,

to research and investigate the international harmonization of the domestic technologies, standards and systems.

The committee consists of the following three groups;


A) ISO Advisory Groups
ISO (International Organization of Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards body, at present comprising 120 members, one in each country. The objective of ISO is to promote the development of standardization and related activities in the world with a view to facilitating international exchange of goods and services, and to developing cooperation in the spheres of intellectual scientific, technological and economic activity. The results of ISO technical work are published as International Standard (IS).

The technical work of ISO is carried out through technical committee (TC). Each TC may establish subcommittees (SC) and working groups (WG) to cover different aspects of its work.


iibh takes an active part in the works of the following TCs and SCs regarding to building and housing matters through Japanese Industrial Standards Committee (JISC).

B) IEA Energy Conservation in Building and Community System : Domestic Committee
iibh started working as a secretary of IEA (International Energy Agency) domestic committee in the field of "Energy Conservation in Building and Community System" from 1998.

C) Building Regulations Committee
Systems of building regulations in overseas countries are not always equal to Japanese system and that might disturb the communication of information with other countries and organizations, which is one of the objectives on iibh.
Building Regulations committee intends to collect and classify the information on overseas building standards/regulations/specifications, and investigate the actual conditions of them so as to reduce or remove the technical barriers.

ICIS Domestic Committee
The International Construction Information Society (ICIS) is an association of organizations who provide national master specification systems or cost information systems.

ICIS Domestic Committee intends to examine and contribute the activities of ICIS and provide the information to the related domestic organizations.

D) Building Experts Committee
This committee is to exchange information on the wood products, wooden buildings and building regulations concerned in order to promote trade between
Canada and Japan.

3. Asian Forum Committee

Asian Forum is to promote mutual understanding and collaboration among Asian nations in order to prepare a framework for cooperation in the field of architecture and building construction.

4. International Cooperation Planning Committee

International Cooperation Planning Committee intends to investigate and plan the measures to promote the aid and cooperation to the developing countries in the field of building and housing.

 

5. International Conference Committees

International Conference Committee administrates the international governmental conferences between the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT) and relevant overseas governmental bodies as follows;

6. Secretariat of Sustainable Building 2005 Tokyo Conference

The 2005 World Sustainable Building Conference will be held in Tokyo in September 2005. A large number of building researchers, practitioners, officials, industry representatives and students from all over the world will gather at this conference to exchange the latest knowledge and experience regarding "Sustainable Buildings".

Iibh holds the conference secretariat of SB05 Tokyo.
